VFAM sponsors the 2023 Econometrics & Applications Olympiad

On 11–12 June 2023, the finals of the 8th “Econometrics and Applications Olympiad” 2023 took place in Hanoi, drawing students and young researchers from across the country.

The competition was organized by the Central Vietnam Students' Association, the Academy of Finance and the Institute of Mathematics. Among its supporting partners were the Applied Mathematics Development Fund (Ho Chi Minh City) and the International Centre for Training and Research in Mathematics under the auspices of UNESCO, together with several other sponsors — reflecting broad community support for quantitative research in Vietnamese higher education.

Scale

The 2023 edition gathered 162 research topics from 23 universities and institutes nationwide.

Results

6 first prizes — awarded to Foreign Trade University (2), University of Economics & Law, Thuyloi University, National Economics University, and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City
23 second prizes and 24 third prizes
94 topics received awards overall

Supporting academic contests such as the Econometrics and Applications Olympiad is part of VFAM's effort to encourage quantitative research and the application of mathematics among Vietnamese students and researchers.
